Things My Yoga Teacher Said...

I've decided to begin a series
(inspired by this post from a while back)
titled:

Things My Yoga Teacher Said

It's a rare day in a yoga class
when I leave class
without
a nugget of inspiration
to hold onto
for the week...
or for the rest of my life.

This one to continues to speak to me:
A yoga teacher at Yoga Hanalei
slipped this one in
during my last visit.

I actually giggled a bit when she said it...
Release your face.
(Giggling actually helped to release the muscles in the face...
go ahead...
try it...
you know you want to!)

I've never had anyone say, so directly,
a phrase that helped me to release my anxiety so efficiently.

Enjoy your day...
Release your face.

aloha.

As my yoga teacher said...

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
Harold Thurman Whitman

What makes me come alive?
What makes me come alive!
What makes ME come ALIVE...
I
don't
know...

but I've been thinking about that a lot lately.

I think I am most alive
when I've released anxiety.
Anxious feelings turn into crippling behaviors.

When and how do I release anxieties?
Not "over-thinking" my life.
Trying to "live in the moment"
Concentrating on the best outcome
Exercising
Dancing
...

The most important line in that quote above is:
"and then go and do that."
It is most often in the application of the thought that I fail
to come alive.

What makes you come alive?
Think on that.
And then go and do that.
